EXPRESS YOURSELF

30 de maio de 2026 · Póvoa de Varzim

Express Yourself is a performance organised by the Be Artist Association, with the support of the Municipality, and was created with a very special purpose: to give dance a stage and create opportunities for different schools, academies and conservatoires to share their art. Each edition brings together several dance academies and schools from the municipality and different parts of the country, usually also featuring two conservatoires from Porto. Different generations, styles, schools and ways of experiencing dance meet on the same stage, creating a genuine moment of artistic encounter and sharing. More than a performance, Express Yourself aims to give participants stage experience, which is often a defining moment in a child’s or young person’s artistic journey. Stepping onto the stage, presenting the work they have developed and feeling the audience’s energy are unique experiences that build growth, confidence and a passion for dance. Through this initiative, the Be Artist Association seeks to bring schools and artistic communities closer together, encourage the exchange of experiences and create new opportunities for participation, allowing different academies and institutions to showcase their work and celebrate what unites them: dance. With the participation of many children and several schools, Express Yourself becomes a major artistic gathering where every group has its moment to shine, express itself and leave its mark on stage. Because expressing yourself also means growing. And because every child and young person deserves the opportunity to step onto a stage, live this experience and discover the transformative power of art.
