“When Dance Becomes Hope” was a very special initiative in which dance came together with solidarity, inclusion and community. Through free workshops led by members of the Be Artist Dance Company, children and young people were given the opportunity to take part in an artistic experience regardless of their financial circumstances. In return, participants contributed food items, which were later delivered to institutions in the city. Each child also had the opportunity to write a Christmas and New Year message, in a moment of sharing and reflection. The initiative also included an inclusive dance programme, with classes led by the Be Artist Dance Company and Professor Joana Rios for MAPADI members, promoting participation, expression and access to dance for everyone. Above all, “When Dance Becomes Hope” was a celebration of dance as an instrument of inclusion, solidarity and social transformation.
